Sri Uma Maheshwara Caves, Yaganti

According to legend, during ancient times, Sage Agastya Maharshi visited these hills with the intent of performing penance and establishing a shrine for Lord Venkateswara (a form of Vishnu). However, to his surprise, the idol would not consecrate properly, and he heard a divine voice revealing that this land is destined to be the abode of Lord Shiva, not Vishnu. Hence, the sage changed his course and began worshipping Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati together in their form as Uma Maheshwara.

Pleased with Agastya's intense devotion, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati appeared before him in their celestial form and blessed the region. That very place became sanctified as the Uma Maheshwara Caves, where the divine couple is believed to reside eternally in spiritual union.

Inside the caves, naturally formed rock formations represent Uma (Goddess Parvati) and Maheshwara (Lord Shiva) seated together. Devotees experience a palpable spiritual presence here, and the cave is revered as a living shrine, not just a monument.
